We begin our tour, with a short tour of Seward and the surrounding area.
A harbor town at the edge of Kenai Fjords National Park, and the start of the historic Iditarod Trail.

Seward was founded in 1903 as the southern end of the Alaska Railroad. Mount Marathon rises right behind town.

The AWCC is one of our guests' favorite places. We are up close and personal with bears, moose, elk, muskox, wolves and more. Admission included.
The center has cared for orphaned and injured Alaska animals since 1993. Many can't be released, so they live here in large, natural enclosures, and visitors help pay for that care.
Tip: the bears are often most active in the morning and when keepers bring food. Your guide knows the best viewing spots.

Portage Valley glacier viewing

There are multiple hanging glaciers within Portage Valley. You will have the opportunity to take a self-guided walk to get a close view of multiple glaciers. (Please note opportunity for the walk is seasonal.) Generally, from May to October.

Girdwood
After a full day of activities, we stop in Girdwood for an optional lunch at one of our favorite local restaurants for great food, prices and local flavor (Have we mentioned the incredible chowder?)

Considered one of the most beautiful drives in the United States.
The Seward Highway is a designated National Scenic Byway, and this stretch along Turnagain Arm is why.

Driving from Seward to Anchorage along Turnagain Arm is breathtaking. We often stop for pictures, for wildlife sightings, and, if the timing is right, for the bore tide.
Keep a window seat if you can. The road follows the water for miles, with pull-offs for photos when the light is good or wildlife shows up.

Potter Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary
On the final stretch along Turnagain Arm, we pause at Potter Marsh, a 564-acre wildlife sanctuary at the edge of Anchorage.

Where do you pick us up and drop us off?
We pick you up at the Seward cruise port or your Seward lodging, and drop you at your preferred location in Anchorage.

We monitor all cruise arrivals and adjust pickup times automatically. If your ship is delayed, your tour timing adjusts accordingly at no extra charge.
Can you handle my luggage?
Yes. Our vans carry luggage securely in a trailer, so your bags travel with you all day and arrive when you do.

Tours run rain or shine, and the vans are warm and dry. Alaska is worth seeing in every kind of weather. If conditions close a stop, your guide will swap in something else worth your time. In genuinely extreme conditions we'll contact you to adjust timing or offer options.
