Why We Price Private Tours For Two

Here's something we noticed while pricing these tours. Almost every private day tour in Anchorage is priced for a party of six or more. The rate is the same whether six people show up or two - which means a couple books a private day and pays for four empty seats.

Winter travelers are mostly couples and parties of two or three. So we priced for that.

The Three Levels

Scenic + Nature

$697

for two guests

Six hours of private sightseeing. Alaska itself is the anchor: Turnagain Arm when the tidal ice is stacking, Dall sheep on the cliffs, moose in the low country, and the overlooks that are empty in January.

PartyTotalPer person
2 guests$697$348.50
3 guests$794$264.67
4 guests$891$222.75

Additional guests +$97 each

Short notice is usually fine - call and ask.

Premier + Experience

Everything in Scenic + Nature, built around one bucket-list experience - your choice of dog sledding, a guided glacier hike, or a snowmobile tour.

Luxe + Immersive

The once-in-a-lifetime version, anchored by a helicopter glacier landing or an ATV aurora ride. These go farther and later, and the day is built with the room they need.

Private winter tour moments: snowmobiles at dusk, dog sledding on a snowy trail, and the aurora over the mountains

What does 'private' actually get you?

Most tour pages treat 'private' as a logistics upgrade: your own vehicle, no strangers. That's true and it's the least interesting part. What private actually changes is who decides.

On a scheduled tour, the day is built for the average of eleven people. On a private day, there is no average. If the light over Turnagain Arm is doing something extraordinary, you stop for twenty minutes. If your mother needs to warm up, you warm up. If your kid is bored by the scenic overlook and riveted by the frozen creek, you stay at the creek.

Your guide isn't managing a group. They're building your day, in real time.

Questions people ask

Is a private day worth it for just two people?

Sometimes no, and we'll say so. If what you want is Turnagain Arm, the wildlife centre and a good guide, our small-group day does that well at $177 a person and you'll have a fine time. A private day earns its price when the flexibility is the point: you want to leave at seven to catch the light, someone in your party needs a slower pace, you'd rather skip a stop nobody cares about, or you want your guide's full attention for the day. For two people that's $697 - more than two seats on a group tour, and less than most operators charge for a private one, because we priced it for the way winter parties actually travel rather than for a van of four.

What if we're traveling with kids, or with someone with limited mobility?

We carry child seats, we have walkers, and we can arrange a wheelchair for use at the stops. What we don't have is a lift or a ramp - everyone needs to be able to get into a standard van seat, with help if that's what it takes. Tell us what you're working with when you call and we'll give you a straight answer about whether the day will work, including if the answer is no.

What happens if weather cancels our anchor activity?

Your call - a full refund of the day, or we reschedule it. Weather closes things here and we'd rather plan for that out loud than pretend it doesn't happen. If the anchor goes but the day can still run, we'll tell you what's still good and let you decide.

Can you build something that isn't on this list?

Yes. These three tiers exist because most people want a starting point, not because they're the only shapes a day can take. Tell us what you're hoping for and we'll build it and quote it.

Our Promise

Small groups, local guides, and straight answers. We only run a tour when it is safe and genuinely worth your day.
