Glacier View & Wildlife. The Conservation Center is the one place on any of our tours where seeing bears and moose is a certainty. Rated Easy.
Matanuska Glacier Hike. Two to three miles on the ice with cleats and a certified glacier guide. Rated Moderate - if that sounds like more than you want, Glacier View shows you a glacier from the valley floor.
Hatcher Pass, Reindeer & Iditarod Dogs, or the ATV & UTV day. Every stop on Hatcher Pass is optional and you can stay with the van. On the ATV day you don't walk at all.
Dog Sledding & Iditarod Kennel. About 30 minutes on a real sled behind a real team, November through April.

The Matanuska Glacier stops melting and starts advancing. The sled dogs are in their actual season. The overlooks on Turnagain Arm are empty. Private winter tours from $697 for two guests, plus snowmobile, ATV, and multi-day winter trips.
The drive to your ship, turned into a tour. Turnagain Arm, Byron Glacier and the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center on the way, with your bags aboard and you at the pier on time. Anchorage ↔ Whittier from $217, Anchorage ↔ Seward from $247. Private transfers and 2027 dates available.

What an amazing day. Elizabeth with Welcome Anchorage Tours was fantastic during our privately booked tour. Her insights, and personal touches made our trip so special. The scenery between Anchorage and Seward was beautiful, . Experiencing the SeaLife Center had its high points and to top it off was our Dog Sled ride and holding 3 week old Alaskan Husky puppies. This tour was by far one of the best that I was in Alaska, our tour guide was very kind and knowledgeable, comfortable ride in a Mercedes Vialy, we were able to see nice Anchorage local places, if you want to see bears this is the tour, we went and contemplate Glaciers, the views are stunning, it had it all!

At the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, yes - the bears, moose, wolves, musk ox and bison live there. Along Turnagain Arm and in the mountains it's up to Alaska. Guests often see Dall sheep, eagles and moose, and belugas in late summer, but we don't promise what the wild will do. We promise a guide who knows where to look and a group small enough to stop when something appears.
Tours run in rain. Alaska is a rainforest in places and the glaciers and wildlife don't mind. The van is warm and dry, the stops are short, and we'll tell you what to wear. If conditions make a road or the glacier unsafe, we'll contact you about options.
Glacier View, Hatcher Pass and Dog Sledding are rated Easy - light, mostly optional walking, and you can stay with the van at any stop. Matanuska is rated Moderate: two to three miles on ice. The ATV day has no walking at all. If you're traveling with someone who has limited mobility, call us and we'll point you at the right day.
Because eleven people can pull onto the shoulder when a moose steps out and a motorcoach can't. It also means the pace can flex to the slowest walker and your guide can actually answer your questions. It's the whole idea, not a feature.
